I was trying to yake it apart and when i went to take those tiny red and black wires out they snapped that are connected to computer chip looking thing what do i do???

Hey, my BF has had this problem, luckily it was still under guarantee and he got it fixed for free. It is not under guarantee any more and I will tell him this post if it happens again, it will come in handy. Love the pictures.

i have a 80 ps3 phat. The issue with it is that it freezes up everytime i play a game. The game starts up fine and then 5 minutes in its frozen. I have changed the HDD, cleaned the lens, clean most of the dust from it, and even applied thermal paste (which has lessen the amount of time the fan kicks in you dont even know the console is on). i go on the internet just fine and its plays dvds and cds also. After reading this page I have conclude the laser needs to be changed and this should fix my problem I hope. I ll be back to update, wish me luck…. But is this a sigh that the lens is gone?

hi there do you know where i might be able to find myself a few new lasers for my ps3 i may as well stock up if they dont make them anymore i have a ps3 60gb with backwards compatability and if you need anymore info just ask im new to ps3′s had it sitting in the shed for 2 years decided to pull it out a couple of months ago then this happens

I was able to reset the drive and eject function by hooking the drive back up to the ps3 without putting the screws in the drive. Once I powered up the system I removed the top part of the cd drive and everything reset to accept a disc. Put the top back on and insert a disc, then put the screws back in and it is ready to work. Hope it works for anyone else having the same problems.
